Property Co-Tenants Get Clarity

July 2018

A client and his relatives co-own property inherited from their family members. In performing a deed search, it was determined that the client's father who he believed owned the property did not have a deed to the land. Due to some changes in the Texas Property Code, we filed an Affidavit of Adverse Possession to secure the client's ownership in the property. If no competing affidavits or filed and/or no quiet title lawsuits are brought within the statutory period, the client will be considered the record owner of the property.
